Bring on the ponies!

I'm coming! I'm hungry like always.


No! It's a camera - drats!!#$@! I don't feed the ponies at all - at the owner's request because they are a little on the chubby side after being fed up big time while in the pound where they stayed for a while after the bushfires destroyed their home. The good news is hopefully some of the girls are with foal - little Felix has been a busy boy!


No carrots so we're not looking.

Looking down on the middle paddock. I do so LOVE living here. The worrisome thing is how dusty it is in May - there should be mud. Mind you, my darling doggy manages to find some. I took these photos yesterday afternoon - it was a glorious day, even felt a little sunburnt - bizzare. This morning is thick with fog, but I love the mystery of it.... especially when I don't have to drive off into it - *grin*



How gorgeous are these kookaburras? I've sourced these beautiful corrugated iron kookas locally from a man who loves his work! Each edge has been carefully ground down so there are no sharp bits, even on the barb wire decoration. Next week I will take delivery of new my animals; a cow, possum lots of ducks - all made of corrugated iron - I think there are enough real animals around the place for the time being! I love garden art and I most certainly have enough places for lots and lots more - goody, goody, gum drops!! I'll also be selling them from my website if you're interested. They'll be listed next week. Hope you enjoyed the pony tour.

Hans and the Fabulous Farm Animals

Calm farm puppy, Hans...butter wouldn't melt in this little mouth - who I took out to the 'toilet' at 4.20am this morning only to disturb some kangaroos nibbling on our garden. My little darling decided it was a great time to round them up! I called him something else at that hour - for 15 long, cold minutes! Little monster.

Talk about borrowed landscape - these horses belong to our neighbours - what a gorgeous view...feeling the serenity even with the fog.



Tadpoles live in here - and when they grow up their songs are such a delight - one of my favourite things on the farm. They share the dam with the ducks, too....and now my darling Hans - he came in with the muddiest feet in his little life to date the other morning after his great discovery - and found himself in the wash tub before he knew what was going on.


Ducks walking up the hill, away from the dam on a forraging mission. Such a gorgeous procession, they go up and down a number of times a day. On the way back they fly the last 20 metres or so and land with a splash and then climb out the high side of the dam and start all over again...hmmm, why don't I get more work done around here?



Look at the pig next door!!! Ha, ha, it really is a lovely pig - a girl and she lives with her daughter - they are so gorgeous. They frolick like dogs and wag their tails when you talk to them. They are wonderful because we get the enjoyment of them and the neighbours get all the care.




Borrowed landscape to the left - our other neighbours nicknamed by my husband, Kerry and James ... yes, they are alpacas.

Check back soon because we have our very own borrowed animals on our little farm, eight miniature ponies that are staying with us because their little farm six minutes down the road (yikes!) was burnt and all their fences were damaged and their owners home too. So we are very grateful for gorgeous tenants and to be able to help some lovely people.

Fabulous Studio Views with Kangaroos

I'm back with some fun pics of my studio and the gorgeous views of kangaroos grazing in the paddock from my windows. You'll have to believe me - they are not cardboard cut outs! I'll include some close ups another day. Just this morning as I drove my son to school down our one kilometre lane of gravel we saw four small kangaroos cross our path - it's been a glorious morning - very frosty but sunny. We are sooo lucky to be living here.


Here are a couple more evening shots - I LOVE working here! My lovely nieces came to visit for the first time a couple of weeks ago - and boy did their eyes light up at my playroom! It's so exciting to be finally up and running. An awful lot has happened to us since moving here on August 1....before we know we'll have been here a year. A divine place to find some peace in one's life.


I've been playing with my heart....


The hearts are made from recycled denim and some gorgeous crocheted lace and lovely beads and bling from my vast collection. I gave this one to my niece and she loves it. Very sweet to hang over your door or drawer handle - or even on your dressing table. Each side is different for a quick an easy change. The heart is sitting on a wonderful treasure hunting find of a vintage cardboard case - truth be told probably something from the '60s and next to it is a beautiful fabric covered mini-hat box that I bought in Paris. The lid is shaped like a hat.



Blingage Darling, love it! How fun are these rings? - I'm still playing but I plan to list them - I'll let you know when. I've also been creating some 'plastic fantastic' earrings - but I've given them all away - so I'll have to get very busy and make some more.

How gorgeous is the afternoon light in my studio some days? These earrings (and the ring) were shot without a flash - just the glorious sun pouring through my studio windows.

And this final picture for today is an example of what I can achieve if I get out and about early in the morning ... photographed with my dog at my side and in my dressing gown! I LOVE the privacy of living on acreage ... mmmmm, so why am I showing the results off on a public blog?? ....mmmm perhaps because there are no dressing gown shots included! - LOL

Fabulous Frau's website is finally up!

I'm getting there!! It's only taken a year!! I'm really excited because my website is finally up - although the 'L plates' are in evidence I'm thrilled.

Now I have to get my new baby loaded with the treasures that have taken over my house .... mmm, love stock collecting *big grin*.

Luxurious Jewels and a Puppy

Here is our new little puppy, Hans - short for Hansel (courtesy of the wit of my husband - and yes he'd like a girl puppy down the track and wants to call her Gretel!).

He's eight weeks old in this picture and is now a whole nine and even bigger. He's very gorgeous and sooo good. With me working from home he's been very easy to train. He's been fabulous because he does not go on the lower level of my studio at all - which is super because I wouldn't like my wonderful camera to be fall over or him to put his doggy imprint on anything. I can cope fine with him sitting under my chair or computer desk and I'm thrilled at how clever he is and that he learns so fast.

He's a miniature schnauzer and he doesn't lose any hair around the place and he sleeps all night. A lovely little uplifting soul in our lives.

We've got a fabulous little dog yard and he LOVES playing in there and on such a big property the world is his oyster. Luckily for me he's fabulous about coming when called. There are so many wonderful smells around this place; kangaroos, echidnas, possums, naughty rabbits, the odd fox and all sorts of insects and birds not to mention plants. He loves chasing the rake and sticks are so much fun.

I've been busy listing my new range of 'Luxurious Jewels' stationery on eBay the last couple of days - I'm absolutely thrilled with how good the range looks!

Gorgeous Vintage Shell Doll

Okay, now for some nice stuff .... yes, we evacuated for three extra nights since my last entry but today it is raining and quite wet and all is well in this little pocket of the world. People who've been through the worst of the bushfires are getting on with life. I've met some amazing people in the neighbourhood so I'm going to follow suit, albeit incredibly gratefully. *smile*

Today I'm posting some gorgeous pictures, in particular of a treasured find - a sweet doll, possibly circa 1950's embellished with shells and handpainted. Absolutely beautiful. If anyone out there knows about dolls like this I'd be thrilled to hear from you. She is so sweet even with her dirty face!

Today I'm busy listing on my ebay store Fabulous Frau but I thought I'd pop in here with something fun.

Smoke in the Bush

Well, bushfires are still the number one thing on my agenda - or threat there of. Last Friday we had yet another night away from home and are very, very grateful that all was well here as the weather didn't end up being as bad as originally expected and the wonderful firefighters had done an excellent job of creating firebreaks with their backburning efforts. It was very disconcerting on Friday morning having the smoke surround our house so thickly that it came under the front door. We were gone by 7.30am.

Today the sky is blue in places with some haze and only the faint smell of smoke. A wonderful respite even though we feel a little flat knowing tomorrow is another scary day. Anyway, I'm posting some photos that I tried to include before.

Before running away the other day I took detailed photos of the contents of our home, with a view to keeping the pictures for insurance purposes. I've taken many treasures 'off site' but when I got to a snap of my dolls I have to admit it made me cry for all the poor darling children who've lost their special toys. Until this fire season is officially over I'm trying very hard to 'not go there' mentally.... otherwise I just freeze up and feel so sad.

On a positive note I've got some gorgeous snaps of my treasures so I'll try and show them to you next time, you know, the original point of my blog!
